OPITO LOLER Competent Person Assessment
Objective
The aims and objectives of the assessment are to ensure that the LCP has the required level of underpinning knowledge and operational experience to prepare suitable and sufficient lifting plans and risk assessments for lifting operations. This also involves the selection of appropriate lifting equipment, determining suitable levels of supervision and personnel requirements for lifting operations and ability to manage the content of the rigging loft or other lifting equipment / accessories
Target Group
The OPITO approved LOLER Competent Person assessment is aimed at personnel who are, or will be, planning and approving lifting operations in the workplace and ensuring that the lifting operations are conducted in compliance with Legislative requirements and company procedures. The OPITO LCP standard requires that candidates undergoing the assessment process must be Company sponsored and have suitable levels of relevant experience.
Prerequisites

Examination
Candidates successfully meeting the defined outcomes of the assessment process will be issued with an OPITO endorsed certificate of competence to perform the function of LOLER Competent Person at the workplace
Course are conducted at RelyOnNutec training centres at Aberdeen

The ability to demonstrate knowledge and practical skills in the following topics:
Unit 1: Regulations, procedures, assessment and competence:
Regulations and safe systems of work
Coaching and mentoring of lifting team personnel
Supervision of lifting team personnel
Unit 2: Selection and Control of lifting equipment and planning the lifting operation:
Inspection and control of lifting equipment / lifting accessories
Planning the lifting operation / preparing the risk assessment and conducting Toolbox talks
