NEC 500 & 505 Explosion Protection Guidance Inspection / Installation

Objective

This competence-based course, is designed to give an understanding in hazardous area concepts for the use of electrical equipment and explains the protection methods from manufacture to installation, inspection and maintenance as per the requirements of the NEC 500, NEC 505 and IEC. This course also includes practical inspections, cable glanding and installation exercises.

Target Group

This course is suitable for personnel with electrical, instrument or mechanical background within industry that require an understanding in the selection and installation of equipment for hazardous areas. Also suitable for technicians engaged in the procedures for inspections to IEC 60079-17 and in carrying out effective on-site maintenance.

Examination

Delegates will be assessed against the Learning Outcomes specified in the Content Section using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate. Delegates will be required to undertake a written test. The pass mark for this course is 80%.

Should a delegate encounter challenges to meet these Learning Outcomes, RON shall provide additional coaching as an opportunity to meet those requirements
