A trainee will be competent to participate effectively in co-ordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea and to provide the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain on board.
This training programme is intended to meet the requirements set out in Section A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code. To ensure knowledge and techniques required for Medical Care with particular emphasis on practical training. The training programme also meets the requirements of the STCW Code 1995, as amended.
For admission to the course, seafarers must be in the possession of a valid STCW Medical Care (A-VI/4-2) Certificate.
On successful completion of the course and demonstration of competence, a certificate will be issued that the holder has met the standard of competence specified in Table A-VI/4-2 of STCW 1995.
