TSBB Initial 5605 - Travel Safely by Boat
Objective
The objectives of the TSbB - Initial training are that learners will be able to achieve the following: a) Understand the awareness of the risks to which they are exposed and how they are managed. b) Have an understanding of the essential safety rules with which they must comply and how to act in an emergency. c) Understand an increase in their personal commitment to safety. d) Know the effective use of personal safety equipment. e) Practice and demonstrate the correct method of boat transfers (simulated boat deck and installation).
Target Group
The Travel Safely by Boat – Initial training is to meet the initial onshore safety and emergency response training for new entrants and all personnel currently travelling and transferring by boat to an offshore installation.
Examination
To achieve the Travel Safely by Boat Initial Training the learner will need to complete the mandatory unit. Completion of this training can lead to Travel Safely by Boat - Further Training and Travel Safely by Boat Supplementary Training (Personnel Transfer Basket at Sea).
Course Contents
This course covers the following contents: 1.Safe Boat Travel principles and practice. 2.Types of boat emergencies and actions to take. 3.Donning a flotation device and methods of transfer. 4.Actions in preparation for a boat emergency. 5.Actions in the event of an abandonment. 6.Survival techniques following an abandonment.
