In the H2S introduction training delegates get familiar with the hazards of hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S). Delegates are trained both theoretically and practically in performing the right actions in case of a hydrogen sulfide gas leakage.
Persons working at a mining installation where hydrogen sulfide gas can be expected or has been found. (defined as an H2S location)
At the start of the training the delegate should be:
- In possession of a valid ID (passport or drivers licence)
- In possession of a Personal Safety Logbook, when applicable.
- Physically fit to attend the course.
Note: There are no training pre-requisites for the initial training.
The delegates will be assessed by a theoretical assessment against the learning outcomes.
The content of the H2S Introduction training is to ensure:
- Delegates will have knowledge of the properties and hazards of H2S
- Delegates will have knowledge of working activities on a H2S location
- Delegates will have knowledge of the necessary layout on an H2S location
- Delegates will have knowledge of handling, use and restrictions of the specific compulsory personal protective equipment
- Delegates will have knowledge of handling, use and restrictions of personal detection / alarm equipment
- Delegates will have knowledge of escape procedures in case of an H2S alarm
- Delegates will have knowledge of first aid in case of H2S victims
- Delegates will have knowledge of H2S rules in the working conditions act (Arbowet)
Practical session.
- Escape exercises with escape mask.
