Helicopter Underwater Escape Training Offshore Wind incl. CAEBS

Objective

The aim of the HUET (with CA-EBS) programme is to prepare delegates that intend to travel to and from offshore oil and gas installations and vessels by helicopter by providing specific training in pre-flight and in-flight requirements and to equip delegates with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills required in the event of a helicopter emergency – with specific focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching. Specific course objectives are that participants will be able to demonstrate in a simulated environment that they will be able to use the safety equipment and follow procedures in
preparation for and in helicopter emergencies, with special attention on escaping a helicopter following emergency ditching.

Target Group

This training programme is designed to meet the offshore safety and emergency responsetraining requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry or wind Industry who will be supplied with an compressed air emergency breathing system (CA-EBS) during offshore helicopter travel.

Prerequisites

Valid medical certificate AWMF-S1 (DGMM) or equivalent

Examination

None, but all course elements must be completed with satisfaction for handing out certificate.

Course Contents

Main issues in Theory:
Moments of danger in regards of flying over water.
Going through of personal safety equipment.
Going through of the helicopter safety equipment.
Procedure during flight before ditching.
Ditching- and evacuation procedures.
Special procedures related to type of aircraft.
The stay in water.
Hypothermia.
Main issues in Practice:
Tolerance to the water.
Evacuation from the helicopter, sinking vertical.
Evacuation from the helicopter, sinking capsized.
The stay in a life raft in water.
