Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader
Objective
The aim and objectives of the OERTL Initial Training Programme are to equip the delegate with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the role of Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader effectively.
Target Group
The OERTL training course is for personnel who are appointed to, or to be appointed to, the role of an Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader.
Prerequisites
Delegates must be in possession of a valid Offshore Emergency Response Team Member (OERTM) certificate
Examination
The course is a mix of both practical and theoretical sessions during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the course contents.
Upon completion of the course, delegates will be awarded with an OPITO-approved Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader (OERTL) certificate
Certification is valid for 2 years. Prior to expiry delegates must undertake the Further OERTL course to remain certified.
Course Contents
The OERTL course covers a variety of topics including:
• Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader roles & responsibilities
• Offshore emergency response processes, procedures and incident planning, including
o Emergency response team activities
o Team PPE requirements
o Setting incident priorities and objectives
o Monitoring team members and the overall situation
o Conducting dynamic risk assessments
• Delegation, communication and team leadership
• Management of search and rescue missions
• Maintenance of emergency response PPE
