Objective

Delegates will gains required knowledge and understanding to conduct gas test for oxygen levels, flammable and toxic gases safely. Delegates will be equipped with knowledge to conduct gas testing within confined spaces, relevant legislative requirements and documenting gas test results.

Target Group

This programme is designed for personnel preparing to work as Authorised Gas Testers Level 1 and is required for those involved with performing a test for oxygen, flammable and toxic gases up to and including working in confined spaces.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites required for Authorised Gas Tester Training.

Confined space criteria and hazards associated with confined space.
Carrying out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment and using safe systems of work Implications of organisational and statutory requirements
Interpretation of operational requirements and how to Select and using PPE and RPE Working within the Permit to Work system with various permit type
Operating principle of gas measuring equipment Selection of suitable gas detector and pre-start checks.
How to set up the relevant detector for each gas testing application
Calibrating the instruments used in atmospheric testing The behaviour of different flammable and toxic gases
Performing gas tests in sequence and identify range and frequency of test Obtaining a representative atmosphere sample
Determination of acceptable levels of flammable and toxic gases Monitoring and retesting and where to site ongoing monitoring equipment Interpreting and documenting the results
