Objective
Training the delegate in the theory and practice of determining the state of readiness, launching, taking on board and handling of the MOB boats in use by the mining companies.
The performance of rescue operations with these boats.
Target Group
Everyone who is appointed as a coxswain of a conventional or freefall lifeboat and everyone who is appointed as a crew member of an MOB boat on an offshore mining installation.
Prerequisites
Valid medical offshore certificate.
Examination
Throughout the course the delegate is observed and assessed against the learning outcomes.
The course is valid for two years
Course Contents
-to keep the vessel in an operational condition
- react to alarms
- preparation of the vessel for launching (allow)
- boarding the vessel
- launching the vessel
- navigate the vessel and move to a safe zone
-communicate by radio and other means
- ensure the safety of passengers and vessel
- embarkation and disembarkation of passengers and dealing with them
- responsibilities of the crew, division of functions and tasks, knowledge of the vessel and its equipment
-theory of the compass, determining a course and steering the boat by means of a compass; the limitations of sailing by compass
- reacting to an alarm
- muster-roll
- boarding the vessel
- launching the vessel
- sailing away from the offshore mining installation and the effects on the vessel of wind and sea
- searching for persons
- rescue of persons; actions that should be taken to take victims on board and transfer them to ships, helicopter and offshore mining installation.
