Objective

The aim of the course is to establish that the delegate has maintained the required underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills to fulfill the role of rigger safely, effectively and competently.

Target Group

The OPITO Rigger Competence Reassessment is for personnel who want to become OPITO re-certified competent riggers.

Prerequisites

All delegates must hold a valid and in-date OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment or Competence Reassessment certificate.

Examination

OPITO accredited Rigger Competence Reassessment certificate is awarded on successful completion of both the knowledge and practical assessments.

The certification is valid for two years. Delegates must complete the Stage 4 Rigger Re-assessment every two years to remain certified.

Course Contents

The assessment consists of a mix of ongoing theoretical and practical elements designed to give delegates the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and skills in the following areas:
• Effective and safe lifting techniques
• Hazard identification and risk mitigation
• Production of lifting plans
• Effective communication with rigging team
• Lifting equipment – storage and inspections
• Health and safety legislation and associated regulations
• Post-lift procedures.
