CPSO - Medical First Aid Course

Objective

Qualify the student for the task of first aid care on board, in accordance with item 5.6.2.4 of Resolution A-1079(28) of 04/12/2013, International Maritime Organization, Section A-VI/4 and Table A-VI/4-1 of the STCW Code.

Target Group

Workers and professionals in the offshore segment responsible for elementary first aid care on board.

Prerequisites

- RG and CPF;
- Passport (expatriate);
- Be more than eighteen (18) years old;
- Occupational health certificate (ASO) or certificate of good physical and health condition;
- Have completed the CBSP - Platform Basic Safety Course within the last five (5) years.

Examination

Multiple choice exam with minimum passing grade of 60%.

4. Vital Functions – 01 hour

6. Cardiopulmonary Arrest – 04 hours
7. Bleeding – 03 hours
8. Burns – 02 hours
9. Food Poisoning – 01 hour
10. Circulatory Alternation – 01 hour
11. Foreign Bodies – 01 hour
12. Transportation Of Casualties – 01 hour

Practice of First Aid – 10 hours
1. Soft Tissue Injuries – 03 hours
2. Trauma-Orthopedic Injuries – 04 hours
3. First Aid Kit – 03 hours

Health Management – 20 hours
1. Health Management On Board – 10 hours
2. Management of the Infirmary On Board – 06 hours
3. Management of the Pharmacy On Board – 04 hours

Reserve time – 02 hours
Exam time – 02 hours
