The aim of this course is to ensure candidates entering the workforce to carry out banksman and slinger duties have the knowledge and skills to carry out the role safely and competently.
The initial course allows delegates to demonstrate basic banksman and slinger skills following instruction and demonstration from training staff. The course aims to prepare delegates for the next stage of the progression path to becoming a competent banksman and slinger and be able to complete stage 2, supervised workplace experience.
The course is for personnel wishing to become competent in the banksman and slinger role. It is suited to those without previous experience looking for an entry role in offshore oil and gas.
There are no prerequisites for the Banksman & Slinger Initial Training

Candidates then receive their logbook for stage 2 to carry out workplace experience under supervision. Once that is completed they can progress to the stage 3 assessment.
The certification is valid for two years. If the stage 2 logbook and stage 3 assessment are not successfully completed during this time, the candidate will need to undertake the three-day stage 1 course again.
