Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (T-HUET) in Conjunction with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS)

Objective

To prepare delegates that intend to travel to and from offshore oil and gas installations and vessels by helicopter in a tropical environment, when issued with a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS), by providing specific training in pre-flight and in-flight requirements and to equip delegates with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills required in the event of a helicopter emergency – with specific focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching and sea survival techniques.

Target Group

Personnel travelling to an offshore oil and gas installation by helicopter (in a warm water tropical environment) who require additional training in a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) will complete this training delivered in conjunction with T-HUET programme.

Prerequisites

- RG and CPF;
- Passport (expatriates);
- SCUBA Medical Questionnaire.

Examination

Learners will be assessed against the learning outcomes specified using direct observation and verbal questions. Learners will be assessed using verbal questions for UNIT OIS-81 (Outcomes 1-2), UNIT OIS-83 (Outcome 1) and UNIT OIS-276 (Outcome 1). Learners will be assessed using direct observation of practical exercises for UNIT OIS-81 (Outcome 3), UNIT OIS-83 (Outcomes 2-3) and UNIT OIS-276 (Outcomes 2-4). To achieve the T-HUET with CA-EBS Training the learners will need to complete the 3 mandatory units, correctly answering all verbal questions and successfully completing all practical exercises specified.

UNIT OIS-81 Helicopter Safety and Escape – Tropical:
Outcome 1 Helicopter Travel;
Outcome 2 Helicopter Emergencies;
Outcome 3 Practical Helicopter Escape Techniques.

UNIT OIS-83 Sea Survival – THUET:
Outcome 1 Evacuation Methods and Procedures;
Outcome 2 Muster and Actions Upon Boarding a Survival Craft (TEMPSC) and Actions Upon Boarding a Marine Liferaft;
Outcome 3 Sea Survival and Emergency In-Water Actions.
