STCW - Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats
Objective
To give the deligate the knowledge and skills needed to safely crew an FRB.
The course is acording to STCW-95, table A-VI/2-2.
Target Group
Crew members on board ships who may function as FRB crew.
Prerequisites
Proficiency in Life boats and survival crafts, other than FRB. The participant must have and bring valid maritime health certificate. Officers, able-bodied seaman and mechanics must bring valid examination certificate. Able-bodied seamen must be able to document 6 month sea going experience.
Examination
None, but all course must be completed with satisfaction for handing out certificate.
Course Contents
Delegates will undergo practical and theoretical training in the following subjects
Construction and outfit of FRBs and individual items of their equipment
Particular characteristics and facilities of FRBs
Safety precautions during launch and recovery of an FRB
Capsizing and procedures for righting a capsized FRB
How to handle and FRB in prevailing and adverse weather and sea conditions
Navigational and safety equipment available in an FRB
Search patterns and environmental factors affecting their execution
Assessment of the readiness of FRBs and related equipment for immediate use
Knowledge of the maintenance, emergency repairs, normal inflation and deflation of
buoyancy compartments of inflated FRBs
Methods of starting and operating an FRB engine and its accessories
Manage injured persons, including the control of bleeding and shock
