Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) Training

Objective

The aim of the training is to ensure that participants acquire the necessary knowledge and understanding of the particular hazards and characteristics of a Compressed Air Emergency Respiratory System (CA-EBS) and appropriate practical emergency response should the need for emergency use arise. During the training program, participants must demonstrate their skills and understanding of the following key areas. To successfully complete this training, participants must be able to explain: - The fundamental differences between rebreathing and compressed air systems (technology and usage) - Basic principle and use of compressed air emergency breathing systems in helicopter emergency situations - The dangers associated with emergency compressed air breathing systems

Target Group

The target group is people who are equipped with a compressed air emergency breathing system (CA-EBS) on their way to work by helicopter and may need to use a CA-EBS in case of an emergency.

Examination

None, but all course elements must be completed with satisfaction for handing out certificate.

Course Contents

To successfully complete this training, participants must demonstrate: - A pre-flight check of the lifejacket and CA-EBS - Use the lifejacket with CA-EBS correctly, including "Buddy Check" - Emergency use of the CA-EBS in a dry environment The course is conducted in accordance with OPITO guidelines.
