CAA Aeronautical VHF Certification
Objective
The objective of the CAA Aeronautical VHF Certification course is to teach delegates how to communicate with aircraft offshore in an effective, safe and controlled manner.
Target Group
The CAA Aeronautical VHF Certification course is for all individuals using an aeronautical frequency for the purpose of communication with aircraft.
Prerequisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
Examination
Delegates will be examined by a suitably qualified assessor according to the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s Standard of Competency.
UK Civil Aviation Authority will validate all successful delegates with an Offshore Radio
Operators Certificate of Competence on completion of both the theoretical and oral
examinations.
Course Contents
The CAA Aeronautical VHF Certification course covers a variety of topics including:
• Correct speech techniques
• Standard speed abbreviations
• Aircraft call signs
• Readability of transmissions
• Reporting of helideck movement
• Correct terminology
• Aircraft distress and urgency response procedures
Delegates will be provided with a copy of Cap 452 Aeronautical Radio Station Operators Guide on enrolment.
