Helicopter Underwater Escape Training
Objective
The objective of the HUET (with EBS) training is that delegates will be able to: Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
Target Group
This training program is designed to meet the offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry who will be supplied with a rebreather emergency breathing system (EBS) during offshore helicopter travel.
Examination
Assessments are carried out against the OPITO standard 5095 and delegates will be assessed against the Learning Outcomes specified in the Content Section using direct observation.
Course Contents
Delegates attending this training program will be given a series of explanations and demonstrations by training staff, which will identify what they are expected to know and do whilst preparing for and during normal helicopter travel and how to respond to helicopter emergencies. This will be followed by practical exercises which will allow delegates to practice and demonstrate their emergency response skills, knowledge and understanding in the case of a helicopter emergency. The course focuses on the following elements: Helicopter Safety & Escape: Pre boarding. Safe boarding. In flight safety. Safe disembarkation. In flight emergency actions. Use of Emergency Breathing System equipment. Practical emergency ditching and escape training, including evacuation and submerged escape exercises.
