Objective

LO01: State the need for Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) training for seafarers.
LO02: Recognise maritime terminology associated with PSSR.
LO03: Describe the working environment onboard a ship.
LO04: List types of emergencies which may occur onboard a ship.
LO05: Describe shipboard emergency response contingency plans.
LO06: Identify emergency signals and associated duties of the crew.
LO07: State the value of emergency training onboard a ship.
LO08: Identify the impact of shipping on the marine environment.
LO09: Recognise maritime procedures to prevent environment pollution.
LO10: State the value of maritime pollution prevention.
LO11: Recognise the importance of adhering to safe working practices.
LO12: Identify safety procedures designed to protect crewmembers against potential hazards onboard a ship.
LO13: State the safety precautions for entering enclosed spaces.
LO14: Recognise measures to assist with accident prevention and occupational health onboard a ship.
LO15: Recognise the requirements for good communications onboard a ship.
LO16: Establish and maintain effective communications skills.
LO17: Identify the need for good working relationships onboard a ship.
LO18: Recognise basic teamworking principles.
LO19: State the social responsibilities of crewmembers.
LO20: Identify the causes of fatigue.
LO21: State the need for sufficient rest periods.
LO22: Describe the effect of stress on seafarers.
LO23: Explain the effects of schedule changes on seafarer fatigue.

Course Contents

The course is available in the following languages: English; Danish.
The aim of this course is to provide the required level of knowledge to meet the standards of competence for seafarers Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) as mandated by Table A-VI/1-4 in the STCW Code. The course or certificate is not flag state approved at this time.
This course is developed in accordance with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Model Course 1.21.
