Dropped Objects for Wind Energy

Objective

LO1: Explain the role of wind energy bodies and
LO2: List some of the important statistics regarding dropped objects in wind energy environments
LO3: Explain where dropped object hazards can occur around wind turbines
LO4: Explain the risks posed by dropped objects
LO5: Explain which items constitute a dropped object hazard
LO6: Describe typical injuries that can occur as a result of a dropped object
LO7: Explain how to reduce the risk of dropped objects

Target Group

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields, and will carry out their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or offshore wind structure.
Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or workplace, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate the identified risks.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites are required to sit this course.

Examination

The assessment is taken during the course and is within the expected duration.

Course Contents

This course will provide you with an awareness of the issues associated with dropped objects in wind turbine environments. You will learn about the hazards, risks, and injuries as well as some of the controls that are put in place to enable safe working.
