Objective

The aims and objectives of Travel Safely by Boat (TSbB) training programme is, to gain a basic level of understanding and an awareness of safety and emergency response associated with travelling to an offshore installation by boat for the purpose of transfer.

Target Group

The Travel Safely by Boat initial training programme is designed for personnel currently travelling and transferring by boat to an offshore oil and gas installation.

Prerequisites

No Pre-requisites required. Delegates who are in possession of a current BOSIET, FOET, Tropical BOSIET, Tropical FOET are not required to participate in practical life raft and in-water sea survival exercises.

ITEMS TO BRING: All delegates must bring Photographic I.D. and PASSPORT only (original or copy)

HEALTH: All delegates will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to course commencement

Examination

OPITO approved certification will be issued on successful completion of the training program.

The validity of the OPITO certificates is four years.

Course Contents

Delegates will receive theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas
- Awareness of the risks to which they are exposed and
how they are managed.
- An understanding of the essential safety rules with which they must comply and how to act
in an emergency.
- An increase in their personnel commitment to safety.
- Effective use of personnel safety equipment.
- Practice and demonstrate correct method of boat
transfers (simulated boat deck and installation).
- In-water survival techniques.
