Objective

This course consist of a balance of theory and practical elements developed to deliver knowledge, understanding and competence in Advanced Medical Aid.

Delegates will be initially assessed for knowledge continually through the programme and culminates with a final examination undertaken by an external assessor against the required learning outcomes.

Target Group

This OPITO approved programme is designed to meet the initial emergency response training and assessment requirements for an offshore standby vessel advanced medical aider, operating onboard a Standby Vessel.

Prerequisites

Delegates must hold a valid OPITO-approved Initial Training Shipboard Operations Certificate to take the Initial Advanced Medical Aid course.

Examination

On completion of this course, a written assessment will be taken.

Course Contents

The modular training elements are delivered in both theory and practical sessions to gain knowledge, skill and understanding of:

Maintaining a state of readiness
Preparing to receive casualties
Receiving and treating casualties
