Electrical training

IMG 2373

We work with industry, education and government partners to build electrical skills and safety knowledge, ensuring performance in high reliability, high consequence operational environments. Our blended learning approach for electrical skills and safety combines face-to-face classroom teaching, practical exercises on a range of HV and LV equipment in our facilities, with powerful digital learning and assessment tools. Some of our offerings we are developing include:

  • Perform work on or near the network

Training for a worker to understand legislation and the technical codes that are involved. Topics enable a learner to comprehend and comply with safety procedures, personal protective equipment, and risk assessment processes. Key outcomes include understanding of isolation and restoration processes, permit requirements and performing work on or near the network but does not switch/operate.

    Working under an Electrical Permit

A learning program to develop knowledge in the safety requirements, regulations and local safety rules to be able to work on deenergized electrical apparatus.

    Supervising an Electrical Permit

A learning program to develop knowledge in the safety requirements, regulations and local safety rules to be able to supervise a team working on de-energized electrical apparatus (including Sanction for Test).

  • Switch LV network

Training for an operator to understand legislation and technical codes that are required for LV switching. Learning outcomes include: trained and assessed in accordance with industry relevant ‘rules’ and regulations; comprehends and complies with safety procedures, personal protective equipment and risk assessment processes; understands isolation and restoration processes, permit requirements and performs work on or near the network.

    LV operator

A learning program to develop knowledge in the requirements of how to safely participate as the lead person of a team of two workers who are carrying out switching activities on energized low voltage apparatus, including responsibilities to issue work permits.

  • Switch HV network

Training for an operator to understand legislation and technical codes that are involved. Learning outcomes include trained and assessed in accordance with industry relevant ‘rules’ and regulations; comprehends and complies with safety procedures, personal protective equipment and risk assessment processes; understands isolation and restoration processes, permit requirements and performs work on or near the network. Further trained and assessed for high voltage (HV) switching, including local and remote switching processes.

    HV operator (AP – non-complex)

A learning program to develop knowledge in the requirements of how to safely participate as part of a team of two workers who are carrying out switching activities on energized low or high voltage apparatus, on simple networks such as radial.

    HV operator (AP)

A learning program to develop knowledge in the requirements of how to safely participate as the lead person of a team of two workers who are carrying out switching activities on energized high voltage apparatus, including responsibilities to issue work permits with limited complexity where that requirement exists.

    Senior HV operator (SAP)

A learning program that is an extension of the HV Operator (AP) role that includes additional tasks, such as, requests for access, complex system and outage switching, fault analysis activities and Sanction for Test programs.

    Prepare switching activities

A learning program to develop knowledge in the requirements of how to prepare documentation to carry out safe operating sequences on low and high voltage networks.

    Manage switching activities

A learning program to develop knowledge in the requirements of how to manage the various switching programs that may be in progress across your network or facility to avoid incidents and unplanned network
    interruptions.

  • Data centre operations

Training for an operator to understand legislation, business procedures and technical codes that are involved. Courses cover safety procedures, personal protective equipment and risk assessment processes. They focus on isolation and restoration processes on medium voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) operations, and permit requirements to perform work within a data centre.

    Data Centre MV Operator Initial

A learning program to develop knowledge in the requirements of how to undertake MV operations within a data centre.

  • Global Electrical Learning Library (GELL)

RelyOn has developed and built a large amount of learning outcomes that can be flexibly adapted to create our courses. These learning outcomes exist in our Global Electrical Learning Library or GELL. We continue to build this library as we develop courses to meet the needs of our clients.

RelyOn is building courses to address the spectrum of competencies required for electrical skills and safety. Our objective is to assist clients to achieve consistency of training outcomes across multiple jurisdictions.

We design training based on roles, tasks and level of current competency. Our global team of electrical subject matter experts are mapping industry standards, regional and country legislation and certifications, to create 100’s of individual Learning Objective modules.

Together with experienced learning and design practitioners, we create engaging and motivating learning solutions which become stand-alone eLearning offerings or more complex blended learning solutions.
