Risk Management for Wind Energy

Objective

LO1: Define the difference between hazards, controls and risks
LO2: Define risk and risk assessment
LO3: Explain and describe the hierarchy of controls
LO4: Describe the concepts and techniques of risk assessment
LO5: Describe the steps of a typical risk assessment
LO6: Explain how to use a risk matrix
LO7: Describe additional elements of the risk assessment process
LO8: Explain how management of change can cause and prevent injury in the industry
LO9: Understand the purpose of risk intervention systems
LO10: Explain how to safely carry out an intervention
LO11: Explain the importance of reporting and lessons learned

Target Group

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields, and will carry out their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or offshore wind structure.
Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or workplace, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate the identified risks.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites are required to sit this course.

Examination

The assessment is taken during the course and is within the expected duration.

This course will provide an overview of the risk assessment process and risk intervention systems in the wind industry.
