LO01: State the need for crisis management and human behaviour training including passenger safety, cargo safety, and hull integrity on board passenger ships and RO-RO ferryies.

LO03: State procedures for safely lowering and hoisting ramps, setting up, and stowing vehicle decks.
LO04: Explain the procedures for safely embarking and disembarking passengers, with special attention to the disabled and persons needing assistance.
LO05: Identify any special safeguards, procedures, and requirements for the carriage of dangerous goods on board RO-RO passenger ships.

LO07: Describe the use of cargo securing equipment and materials and their limitations.

LO09: Calculate stability and trim for different conditions of loading.

LO11: Describe the impact of ballast and fuel transfers on stability, trim, and stress.
LO12: Describe the procedures established for the ship for opening, closing, and securing bow, stern, and side doors and ramps.
LO13: State the importance of proper sealing surveys.
LO14: Describe the equipment for monitoring the atmosphere in the RO-RO cargo spaces.
LO15: State the procedures for ventilating RO-RO cargo spaces during loading and discharging of vehicles whilst on voyage and in emergencies.

LO01: State the need for crisis management and human behaviour training on passenger ships.
LO02: Identify the need for ship specific knowledge on design, layout, safety regulations, and emergency plans and procedures.
LO03: State the importance of adherence to planned and practiced emergency procedures relevant to ship type.
LO04: Identify potential resource limitations and the possible need for improvisation during an emergency situation.
LO05: Implement realistic and relevant emergency training drills to maintain a state of crew readiness.
LO06: Assess a ship emergency and apply the appropriate drills and resources.
LO07: Employ effective leadership techniques to guide others during an emergency situation.
LO08: Recognise the symptoms of stress on personnel and its potential implications during an emergency situation.
LO09: Identify effective control measures that capture the potential for irrational behaviour of passengers and crew in an emergency situation.
LO10: Describe situations which may induce panic on passengers during an emergency situation.
LO11: State the importance of regular communications during an emergency situation which are clear, concise, and contain relevant information.
LO12: Identify possible barriers to verbal communications during an emergency situation and alternate methods which can be utilised to resolve the issue.
No prerequisites are required to sit this course.
The assessment is taken during the course and is within the expected duration.

The aim of the Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity section of this course is to provide the mandatory level of knowledge required for all Masters, Chief Engineer Officers, Chief Mates, Second Engineer Officers and persons assigned immediate responsibility for embarking and disembarking passengers, for loading, discharging, or securing cargo, or for closing hull openings on board RO-RO passenger ships, as specified in Regulation V/2 (para 8 and 9) Section A-V/2 (para 4 and 5) and Table A-V/2-2 of the STCW Code. This section is developed in accordance with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Model Course 1.29.
The aim of the Passenger ship crisis management and human behaviour section of this course is to provide the mandatory level of knowledge required for all masters, officers and other crewmembers who are required to manage crisis situations on board passenger ships, as specified in Regulation V/2 para 8, Section A-V/2 para 3, and table A-V/2-2 of the STCW Code. This section is developed in accordance with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Model Course 1.42
This course is aligned to STCW Reg V/2, STCW Section A-V/2, IMO Model Course 1.29 and complies with DMA flag state requirements.
