Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Wind Energy

Objective

LO1: Explain the role of PPE in relation to the Hierarchy of Controls
LO2: Describe your responsibilities relating to PPE
LO3: Identify suitable types of PPE for specific tasks
LO4: Describe the types of PPE used to protect various parts of the body
LO5: Explain the advantages and limitations of personal life-saving apparatus and PPE 
LO6: Explain how to inspect and fit harnesses
LO7: Explain PPE designed for working at height
LO8: Identify signage associated with PPE
LO9: Describe how to correctly use, store and dispose of PPE

Target Group

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields, and will carry out their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or offshore wind structure.
Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or workplace, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate the identified risks.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites are required to sit this course.

Examination

The assessment is taken during the course and is within the expected duration.

Course Contents

This course will help you to understand the importance of PPE used in wind energy industry. You will learn about suitable types of PPE that can help keep yourself and others safe in the workplace and its maintenance and storage.
