Site Emergency Response Team (SERT) Member Training

Objective

During the course delegates will learn and demonstrate to a level of competence on how to operate fire fighting and fire protection equipment and how to deal with various fire situations onboard installations. Emphasis will be on fighting and controlling fire / emergency.

Target Group

This Shell Approved course is designed for individual identified to assume the role of Site emergency response team Members on offshore installations.

e.g. Personnel (Company or Contractor personnel) at offshore locations e.g., Operation Technicians, Foremen, Discipline Technicians (Riggers, Scaffolders, Welders),

Prerequisites

ust have a valid Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)

Possess a valid offshore medical certificates of Fitness to Work (FTW).

Course Contents

• Role of the fire / emergency response team member .

• Elements of team work

• PPE issue and safety brief.

• Fire extinguisher refresher, trolley units and application on running fuels

• Hose running / branch handling / Ground Monitors

• Breathing Apparatus & control procedures, Heat & humidity

• Pressurized Vessel Including BLEVE Video & Non Fire Incident

• Casualty assessment, handling and use of stretcher

• Breathing Apparatus practical, BA exercise in cosmetic smoke

• Fire in switch gear room /BA search and rescue, Valve isolation practice on pressure vessels

• Selection and use of foam making equipment with process area props

• Helicopter hard landing crash , Fuel spill no fire with casualty handling

• Internal Gas Release ignited with valve isolation practice

• Confined space Rescue including casualty handling, Hazardous Material Chemical spill

• Tactics for controlling Un-ignited gas release( H2S Leak) and practical using Personal and structural protection

• Selection and use of foam equipment with process area props

• Ignited Gas Release External

• Multi Level fires
