STCW Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher A-VI/3
Objective
The training programme is aimed to deliver competence based training of advanced firefighting techniques.
Delegates will refresh there basic fire skills and gain knowledge of command and control of fire teams, the organization and training of onboard fire parties and investigation and reporting of fire incidents onboard vessels.
Delegates will be assessed by qualified assessors against the competences contained within the STCW Code.
Target Group
This training programme is intended to meet the requirements set out in Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code. To ensure knowledge and techniques required for fighting fire with particular emphasis on organization, tactics and command and control.
The training programme also meets the requirements of the STCW Code 1978, as amended.
Prerequisites
Delegates must have previously succesfully completed the Advanced Fire Fighting training course
Examination
Delegates will be assessed against the learnings outcomes specified in Section VI/3 of the STCW Code 1978, as amended an the IMO Model Course 2.03 by using direct observation and oral and written questions as appropriate.
After successful completion of the training AFF, the certification will be valid for 5 years.
With the implementation of the Manila Amendments 2010, delegates must provice evidence of having competencies by successfully completing a refresher training every 5 years, as described in the STCW Code 1978, as amended,Section VI-3, Table A-VI/3.
Course Contents
Competence assessed classroom and practical training in:
- Revision of Basic Fire Fighting Training Standards
- Control of Fire Fighting operations on board ship
- Organization and training of fire parties
- Inspection and servicing of fire detection / extinguishing equipment
- Investigation and reporting of fire incidents
