Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training w/CA-EBS Digital Delivery

Prerequisites

NOTE: Delegates must complete all portions of the online theoretical training, which is delivered through the OPITO Digital Learning Center, PRIOR to the onsite practical training date. Online joining instructions will be emailed to your inbox from OPITO offering the online access credentials to the program.

Training and/or assessment activities contained within this Standard may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully.

Delegates participating in the Digital BOSIET with CAEBS course must possess a valid, unexpired offshore medical certificate confirming the delegate’s fitness for offshore work or present an employing company approved medical equivalent to an offshore medical certificate (reviewed and approved by RONC's Center Manager). If a medical is not provided, an approved medical screening form will suffice.

**All delegates will be required to complete a medical screening form upon arrival to the facility prior to participating in practical exercises.

•GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID (ie: Passport or -Drivers Licenses, etc.)
•Shorts, T-Shirt, and Socks for pool exercises
•Towels, shower facilities on site
•Lock for locker

Course Contents

Outcomes: Safety Induction (OIS69)
(1) Understand typical offshore oil and gas activities
(2) Understand the main offshore hazards.
(3) Understand the potential environmental impact of offshore installation operations
(4) Understand the principles of managing safety on offshore installations.
(5) Understand hazard effect and consequences; their associated risks, and how they are controlled.
(6) Understand key offshore installation safety regulations and the basic concept of these regulations.
(7) Understand key information and policies to ensure the health safety and wellbeing of those living and working offshore.

Outcomes: Helicopter Safety and Escape (OIS-348)
(1) Understand Helicopter travel
(2) Understands Helicopter emergencies
(3) Understands use of CA-EBS
(4) Perform usage of CA-EBS (dry environment)
(5) Perform practical helicopter escape techniques
(6) Perform additional CA-EBS training (in water)
**CA-EBS Equipment will not be worn during outcome 5

Outcomes: Sea Survival and First Aid (OIS-71)
(1) Understand evacuation methods and procedures
(2) Understand emergency first aid
(3) Perform muster and actions upon boarding a survival craft (TEMPSC)
(4) Perform sea-survival and emergency in water actions
(5) Perform Immediate first aid actions

Outcomes: Firefighting and Self Rescue (OIS-72)
(1) Understand common causes of offshore fires and actions to be taken
(2) Understand self-rescue equipment and techniques
(3) Perform raising the alarm and operation of hand-held extinguishers
(4) Perform self-rescue techniques
