This week it was Greg Nicolson's turn in the spotlight when we sat down with him to find out a little more about his previous experience and the role he'll be performing as Regional Solutions Manager at RelyOn Nutec.
Tell us a bit about your background
- I’ve worked in customer facing roles in the oil and gas industry for over 20 years now. My background lies in talent management, learning & development, and strategic workforce planning.
I joined RelyOn Nutec from BP, where I spent a decade as a learning & development/ talent acquisition specialist. Being embedded in a fast-paced global organisation, which is highly regulated and deadline driven, has given me a unique understanding of the challenges faced in day-to-day operations and the importance of focusing on where the real value-add lies.
What attracted you to the role at RelyOn Nutec?
- RelyOn Nutec were one of our key training vendors at BP, and I was always impressed with the quality of service we received. Nothing was ever too much of an ask and the team were always very personable yet professional.
When I got the opportunity to speak with RelyOn Nutec about this role, these previous experiences and interactions impacted my decision.
RelyOn Nutec is a globally recognised brand with a strong reputation, global reach, and employs many of the leading experts in their field. For me, it was an easy choice and I wanted to be part of the journey.
My background and skills are perfectly aligned to help continue the forward momentum in the company’s evolution.
What will your role at RelyOn Nutec involve?
- My role as regional solutions manager focuses on building strategic partnerships with existing and new clients, both in the UK and overseas, and communicating our company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators. It is my job to ask the right questions to help me to understand our customer’s requirements and to ultimately develop solution-based proposals which meet their objectives.
My portfolio of customers is oil and gas focused, from operators down through the supply chain. My remit is to not only support their training and development needs today, but to advise and assist with their energy transitions requirements of the future.
I’ll also be working collaboratively with the RelyOn Nutec operational teams to ensure that we deliver to an exceptional standard for all my customers.
Tell us something about yourself
- I’m born and bred in Aberdeen, married to Carly and have 2 amazing boys, Joshua and Dylan. My free time is generally taken up with family activities and trips, but in quieter moments I can be found either watching the footy, playing the same songs on the guitar over and over, or at the driving range with a grimace on my face…
