Objective

This 2 day (16 hr.) course is designed to satisfy the minimum training requirements set forth in Coast Guard regulations for applicants seeking basic fire prevention and firefighting as set out in Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code and 46 CFR 11.302(c)(2), 12.602(a)(2), 11.201(h)(2) [Basic only], and 11.201(h)(3).

Examination

Must pass a multiple choice exam with no less than 80%.
Must fulfill all Performance Standards requirements.

• Fire chemistry and characteristics
• Firefighting procedures and tactics
• Safety equipment
• Fire extinguishing agents and equipment
• Crew training and drills
• Fire detection and prevention
