Objective

The purpose of this course is to serve as a guide to crane owners and operators in developing safe operating and maintenance practices and procedures. The aim of this course is to bring a level of awareness to operators concerning the hazards of operating or working around crawler cranes. Getting proper training on crane operation, load preparation, and securing is vital

Target Group

A person seeking to become qualified by an employer as a crawler crane operator.

Examination

The candidate will be required to score a minimum competency of 70% on a written exam.

The topics covered during this training are: - How to inspect slings to be used - How to perform pre-use & monthly crane inspections and documentation - Understanding the safe lifting triangle - Defining the titles ¿Crane Operator¿ and ¿Rigger¿ - Interpreting load charts - Determining load weights - Understanding basic rigging - Using a load angle indicator - Discussing offshore crane situations (weight distribution and buoyancy)
