• Introduction to TMVs (What is a TMV / Background to TMVs / TMV Components / Types pf TMVs / Build Quality).
• Legionella / Pseudomonas (Background / Infection / Susceptibility / Nutrients & Temperature).
• TMV Legal Documents (ACOP L8 / HSG274 Part 2 / Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations / Byelaws & Water Regs Guide / Building Regulations G3 / School Premise Regulations & Advice for Standards for Schools / BS8300-2:2018 / HSG220 / BEAMA Code of Practice / HTM04-01 & SHTM04-01 & WHTM04-01 / D 08).
• Design / Installation (Legionella requirements / Suitable materials / Mixed water temperatures / Point of use & Group Mixing / Extra measures for healthcare / more vulnerable persons.
• Commissioning / In-Service Testing (Commissioning process / In-Service testing process / Test records)
• Fault Finding (common causes / possible faults / actions).

Contents

• State the difference between low and high-risk scalding situations and variables that influence the risk.
• Name the four levels of burns / scalds and state the difference.
• Explain some factors to consider when treating a burn / scald.
• Describe some scalding statistics.
• State the purpose / some background facts concerning TMVs / describe how they work.
• Name then identify the components of a TMV and state their function.
• Highlight differences between Type 1/2/3 TMVs and name the certification body most recognised in the industry.

• Describe some of the background/infection/susceptibility/conditions for growth, for legionella and pseudomonas bacteria.
• Name some relevant legal documents applicable to TMVs.
• Indicate some TMV design requirements (Including legionella and point of use / group mixing).
• Site some materials which should not be used for TMV installation.
• Indicate mixed water temperature requirements for any thermostatically controlled outlet.
• State some heightened TMV design / installation requirements for healthcare or more vulnerable persons.
• Demonstrate or describe the commissioning/in-service testing process.
