Objective

On successful completion of the program delegates will possess the skills and underpinning knowledge required to be able to perform in the role of Internal Verifier, authenticating the judgements of assessors working with OPITO and/or Company in-house competence standards. Internal Verifiers require to have a broad understanding of the type and nature of the tasks being undertaken in the workplace but do not require to have the same degree of
occupational competence as the Assessor

Target Group

This program leading to an industry recognised award is for individuals nominated to carry out authentication through internal verification of Assessor judgements in order to assure the quality of the assessment process and decisions on individuals’ competence. Internal Verification is a quality assurance role’ essential within a competence assurance system to ensure all involved in assessment are performing consistently.

Prerequisites

There are no formal delegate pre-requisites for attendance on the Internal Verifier Training Programme; although delegates must provide evidence that they have access to a minimum of 2 Assessors undertaking an assessment process to verify in their workplace

Examination

Delegates will complete an open book written test, testing the underpinning knowledge of the theory learning outcomes of this OPITO-approved Internal Verifier standard.

On successful completion of the knowledge assessment and workplace evidence delegates will be awarded an OPITO approved Internal Verifier Training certificate which has no expiry.

Can be delivered at RelyOnNutec training centre or at a client’s premises.

Course Contents

1 day Induction: Tutorial led discussion with practical exercises throughout to reinforce key learning points with a formal knowledge assessment at the end of Day 1. The Induction, wherever possible will be held as company specific, tailored to support optimum benefit for attendees through focusing the learning around the organisation’s own internal competence system requirements, internal verification procedure and documentation.

Topics covered during the 1 day Induction:
• The purpose and scope of internal verification
• Roles and responsibilities of those involved with quality assurance of assessments
• How to support assessors
• Monitoring Assessor performance
• Providing feedback to assessors
• The importance of maintaining standardisation and consistency by Assessors
• Internal verification record keeping requirements
• External audit requirements

Demonstration in the Workplace: To meet the practical workplace evidence requirements of the OPITO Internal Verifier award there is a requirement to undertake internal verification of the judgement of 2 Assessors in the workplace along with evidence of facilitating a standardisation activity, to be submitted to RelyOnNutec within 12 months of attendance at the 1 day Induction.

The above workplace evidence of verification will be reviewed by the allocated RelyOn Nutec assessor, resulting in certification issue on successful completion of the OPITO Internal Verifier requirements.
