High Voltage Senior Authorised Person - The Safe Operation of High Voltage Networks (Adaptive e-learning + practical)

Objective

This course is designed to provide an understanding of high voltage power systems as well as the procedures and processes for creating and implementing switching instructions and other safety documentation.
Successfully completing this course should provide delegates with the required knowledge and skills to work towards the authorisation levels of a High Voltage Senior Authorised Person (Under MDSR) or High Voltage Authorised Person under some rule sets .This course can also be used as a refresher course, delegates may also find it useful to complete our High Voltage Authorised Person - Introduction into the Safe Operation of High Voltage Equipment prior to attending.

Target Group

This course is aimed at Electrical personnel with a good foundation level of electrical knowledge who are required to assume responsibility for control of a installation, carry out HV switching operations and responsibilities for issuing and controlling safety documents.

Prerequisites

Learners are electrically trained and have observed switching practices on at least one occasion with their employing company.
They should have a good understanding of HV networks and environments. The course will use generic procedures but learners are expected to have a detailed knowledge of their company procedures relevant to this course of study.

Examination

The exam consists of three elements.
1. A short written question paper (no longer than 30 minutes).
2. Producing a set of safety documentation (Switching Instruction, Sanction for Test, Limitation of Access, Permit to Work).
3. Practical switching exercise, demonstrating the ability to safely operate high voltage equipment in conjunction with a safety document.
