GWO Wind Limited Access

Objective

To enable the participants, through theoretical and practical training, to use basic personal protective equipment, and behave safety during supervised visits to onshore & offshore wind turbine environment

Target Group

Persons who infrequently (no more than 6 times per year) participate in supervised visits to WTG environments.

GWO recommends that persons who visit WTG environments more than 6 times per year complete the full GWO Basic Safety Training

Prerequisites

There are no training prerequisites for the Wind Limited Access Onshore & Offshore modules

Examination

Successful participants will be awarded a GWO Wind Limited Access certificate which is valid for 24 months

Course Contents

Show interest in the hazards present in a WTG
Show interest in fire emergency procedures and equipment in a WTG
Act independently in complying with notification procedures in case of injury or illness
Take responsibility for the correct use of a harness
Take responsibility for correctly using a backup line to reduce the risk of injury resulting from a fall from height
Take responsibility for control measures employed in the practical training area and for warming up prior to performing practical exercises
Take responsibility for the safe and correct use of fall restraint lanyards
Take responsibility for safely using fall/travel restraint to prevent a fall and reduce the risk of injuries while visiting a WTG
Take responsibility for providing fall prevention (fall restraint) over fall arrest
Act independently while safely and correctly using the vertical fall arrest systems in the training facility
Take responsibility for their safety during an evacuating from a wind turbine
Take responsibility and take initiative to act correctly and independently or in cooperation with others in actual emergency situations at sea
Take responsibility of performing safe evacuation from a WTG transition piece
Recognise the hazards and risks of travel and transfer and can describe correct preventive measures and procedures and how to use available LSA and PPE in a correct and safe manner
Take responsibility for conducting safe transfer for themselves between WTG TP and CTV
