Incident Command System Awareness

Objective

• This course is designed to provide persons who have been assigned key roles during an emergency with the basic knowledge of the Incident Command System.
• The training will provide participants with an understanding of why the ICS was developed and the underpinning principles of an ICS.
• Participants with also acquire the knowledge and skills to ensure their ICS is robust and effective.

Target Group

This course is designed for persons who have been assigned key roles during an emergency and are expected to contribute significantly to Crisis Management

Course Contents

At the end of this theory training session, delegates will have an improved understanding of the Incident Command system and the Emergency Response Team roles and responsibilities, particularly in respect of:

• Applications
• ICS Organization
• Incident Facilities
• Incident Action Plan
• Span of Control
• Common Responsibilities

Key focal areas will be the following:
• Training and Development
• Preparedness
• Communications and Information Management
• Resource Management (Human and Logistical)
• Command and Management (Control)
• Drills and Simulations
• Ongoing Management and Maintenance
• Correcting Short-falls

PRACTICAL
• Actual industry specific case studies to enhance the delegate’s ability to manage emergencies.
• This training will also include a tabletop exercise as a practical understanding of the management system
