NR-34 - Basic Safety Course for Painting Activities

Objective

To train the workers to identify the risks inherent to the painting activities, as well as to adopt safety and health protective measures.

Target Group

Workers responsible for supervising, performing or assisting the painting activities in the naval building, repair and dismantling industry.

Examination

Multiple choice exam, with minimum passing grade of 60%. Validity: 1 year

Theory - 16 hours Module 1 - Basic Painting Knowledge: 1.1 Painting Purposes 1.2 Industrial Field Painting 1.3 Composition of Liquid Paints; 1.4 Quality Control; 1.5 Corrosion; 1.6 Surfaces’ Cleaning and Preparation; 1.7 Working Procedures; 1.8 Disposal. Module 2 - Risks Inherent to the Painting Activities: 2.1 Environmental Risks Inherent to the Activity; 2.2 Chemical Agents; 2.3 Operational Risks Inherent to the Activity; 2.4 Ergonomic Agents; 2.5 Mechanical Agents. Module 3 - Risk Control Measures: 3.1 Protection Measures for Painting Activities; 3.2 Training; 3.3 Work Permit; 3.4 Preliminary Risk Analysis; 3.5 Material Safety Data Sheet for Chemical Products (MSDS); 3.6 Lower Explosivity Limit; 3.7 Ventilation; 3.8 Isolation; 3.9 Confined Spaces and Work at Height; 3.10 Hygiene and Worker Protection.
