Offshore Emergency Response Team Member Further

Objective

The objective of the FOERTM Training Programme is to give delegates the opportunity to further practice training exercises onshore that relate to the Offshore Emergency Response Team Members role.

Target Group

The FOERTM training course is for existing Offshore Emergency Response Team Members who are required to revalidate their OPITO OERTM certification by completing training scenarios which they are unable to undertake offshore.

Prerequisites

Delegates must be in possession of a valid Offshore Emergency Response Team Member (OERTM) certificate or a valid Further Offshore Emergency Response Team Member (FOERTM) certificate

Examination

The course is an ongoing competence assessment during which delegates will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and the actions required by a member of the Offshore Emergency Response Team when dealing with live fire and emergency response situations which they cannot reasonably practise offshore.
Upon completion of the course, delegates will be awarded with an OPITO-approved Further Offshore Emergency Response Team Member (FOERTM) certificate
Certification is valid for 2 years. Prior to expiry delegates must retake the Further OERTM course to remain certified.

Course Contents

The course consists of a mix of ongoing theoretical and practical training designed to give delegates the chance to practice fire and emergency response skills, focussing on the following areas:

• Identification of different types of fire and the use of the correct equipment to extinguish the fire, including selection and use of portable and foam fire-fighting equipment
• Correct use of fire-fighting PPE including breathing apparatus
• Participation as a team member in a range of fire and non-fire related incidents
• Safe working practice in an incident area
• Casualty rescue
• Confined space and working at height incident exercises
• Incident brief/debrief
