Safe Operations and Emergency Response Training for Onshore Petrochemical Terminal
Objective
To provide basic training to delegates in awareness of the hazards encountered while working in a Petro-chemical terminal how to respond effectively and appropriately to emergencies.
Target Group
This course is designed for persons who are working in a Petro-chemical terminal.
Prerequisites
None Required
Examination
Delegates will be assessed against the Learning Outcomes specified in the Content Section using direct observation as appropriate.
Should a delegate encounter challenges to meet these Learning Outcomes, RON shall provide additional coaching as an opportunity to meet those requirements.
Course Contents
Delegates who successfully complete this course will acquire the following knowledge and skills:
Basic Safety Induction
• Industry overview & integration between on and offshore operations
• Internal Terminal Hazards
• Environment
• Organisation for safety
• Safety Management Systems
• Permit to work & safe systems of work
• Standards policies and procedures
• Day to day operations within a terminal
Fire Fighting and Self Rescue Techniques
• Firefighting teams and systems within a terminal
• Personal firefighting procedures, using fire extinguishers, hose reels or fire blankets
• Personal self- rescue techniques using escape equipment that may be available in an emergency
Emergency Response Procedures
• Actions to be taken prior to evacuation
• Appropriate use of emergency response equipment
• Emergency response teams
• Muster checkers
• Evacuation and escape mustering points
Basic First Aid Awareness
• Basic functions of, and, how the body works
• A B C of resuscitation/CPR (theory and practical)
• Abdominal thrust (Heimlich Manoeuvre)
• Recovery Position
• Treatment of common injuries

Heat exhaustion/stroke
