Dangerous Goods By Air Awareness

Objective

To provide delegates with a general awareness and an insight into rolls and responsibilities from being able to recognise the UN classification system, through to accident and incident procedures, as stated in the course content.

Target Group

Up until mid 2005, HLO's and Helideck staff, amongst others were handling, storing and loading onboard offshore helicopters various types of Dangerous Goods, with very little or no knowledge of what they were actually dealing with and had little idea of the damage that could
be created and the actions to be taken if something was to go wrong. After a purge by the CAA's Dangerous Goods office, steps were put in place by the then UKOOA, which issued a safety brief back in August 2005 implementing corrective measures that had to be addressed

Prerequisites

ITEMS TO BRING: All delegates must bring Photographic I.D. and PASSPORT only (original or copy)

HEALTH: All delegates will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.

Examination

Candidates will receive a RelyOn Nutec Standard certificate which is valid for two years.

General philosophy, including introduction to the IATA/ICAO Regulations
Training and responsibilities
Hidden Dangerous Goods
Dangerous Goods List
Packing Instructions
UN approved packaging, including UN spec codes
Package marking and labelling, including 'OVERPACKS' and Limited Quantities
Documentation, to include Shippers Declaration, Acceptance check List and NOTOC
The storage, loading and segregation of Dangerous Goods
Notifying onward destinations about incoming Dangerous Goods
Accident and incident procedures
