Course Contents

This training program provides personnel with the knowledge and skills required to take command of survival craft during an offshore emergency abandonment. It meets the requirement for emergency team training as outlined in Section 3.3.5 (Survival Craft Coxswain) of CAPP's Standard Practice for the Training and Qualifications of Personnel, November 2010. It covers both TEMPSC (Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft), davit launch life rafts, and skyscape. Included in the four day program are classroom sessions covering pre-launch checks, mustering and crowd control, abandonment protocols, actions after abandonment and signaling/rescue communications. Practical exercises include survival craft loading, launching and release mechanisms, basic boat handling, compass work, heaving to and sea anchors, search patterns, person in water recovery, and pacing and passenger transfer to FRC.
