High Speed MOB Coxswain

Objective

The objective of the High Speed MOB Coxswain course is to teach delegates to correctly launch, operate and recover a boat and its equipment, to conduct a search, pick up survivors and carry out life support and first aid.

Target Group

The High Speed MOB Coxswain course is for personnel directly involved in the launching and operation of Man-Overboard Boats (MOB) and equipment.

Prerequisites

Delegates must have completed OPITO or Norsk olje og gass approved survival training and be in possession of a VHF/SRC certificate.

Examination

The course is a mix of both practical and theoretical sessions during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the course contents.
Upon completion of the course, delegates will be issued with a RelyOn Nutec High Speed MOB Coxswain in accordance with OLF certificate.
Certification is valid for 2 years.

Course Contents

The High Speed MOB Coxswain course covers a variety of topics including:

• Cooperation and communication between MOB boat and installation/vessel
• Practical use of the boat-launch and recovery
• Davits and release systems
• Manoeuvring and search exercises, including night search
• Transfer of injured or rescued people to installation/vessel
• Primary first aid and life support
• Surface swimming
• Emergency VHF communications
• Coordination of actions and action drills
