ECITB Confined Space Entry High Risk

Objective

To be able to have understanding of the following:
Knowledge of legal requirements.
Knowledge of confined space working practices.
Preparation requirements of working in confined spaces.
Confined space entry and exit procedures.
Working safely in confined spaces including PPE and equipment.
Confined space emergency procedures.
Self Rescue Equipment
Self Rescue Procedures
Breathing Apparatus Equipment
Working with Breathing Apparatus
Decontamination requirements

Target Group

For people working in confined spaces that contain vapour or fume hazards, such as tanks and containers that contain residues and liquids that have not been fully drained or ventilated. Breathing Apparatus should be worn in these environments

Examination

Assessment of the Learning Outcomes as per the ECITB standard will be assessed via a written question paper and via observation

Delegates will be awarded an ECTIB approved certificate which is valid for 3 years once they successfully pass the knowledge assessment and practical assessment.

Course can be delivered at both Teesside and Aberdeen training centres

Classification of Confined Spaces
Confined Space Hazards (including Oxygen Deficiency and Enrichment)
Safe Working Procedures (including use of Confined Space Entry Permits/ Gas Monitoring
and Atmospheric Testing/ Ventilation/ Communication methods)
Equipment and Tools (including use of Gas Testers)
Working in Teams (including Standby Persons/ Entrants/ Emergency Teams)
Practical Exercise - Prepare to enter and work safely in high risk confined spaces
Practical Exercise - Enter and exit confined spaces safely
Procedures for dealing with emergencies (including the need for rescue plans)
Purpose and requirements for using breathing apparatus
Legislation covering BA
The components and make up of a BA set
Pre-use checks and tests
Safe Use of BA and adhering to procedures
After Use Checks
