Objective

Combination Offshore Pedestal Crane Rigging & General Lifting Appliance Rigging. General appliances include hoists, jack, winches & come-a-longs. Provide skills necessary to evaluate loads, select appropriate hitch & hardware, & rig all categories of loads. Qualified to perform daily inspections, assess rigging safety, properly communicate with other riggers & DSPs during lifts, & ensure overall safety. Operating principles, operational safety, load control methods, inspection procedures, communications, & critical load handling pedestal crane & general lifting appliances.

Target Group

Preferred for offshore personnel with the responsibility for rigging of pedestal cranes & hoisting/lifting with other general type lifting appliances.

Prerequisites

Requirements of the API Training Provider Certification Program will mandate that you complete and sign a statement of good personal medical condition before attending the course. This formality can be completed at SRTCC.

Examination

Written Exam: 80 % completion required
Practicals: Competent - return to facility under instruction
Not Yet Competent - requires additional training
