IADC WellSharp Introductory Level Well Control

Objective

The aim of the IADC WellSharp Introductory Drilling Well Control course is to provide candidates with a practical understanding of the features of drilling a well and the fundamental principles involved in maintaining well control. The training reinforces the critical body of knowledge and set of job skills required by rig personnel during drilling operations.

This course equips rig crew personnel with the knowledge that enables them to play an active role in preventing, recognizing and responding to well control incidents during drilling operations.

Target Group

The IADC WellSharp “Well Control for Drilling Operations – Introductory” course has been designed for rig crew up to derrickman level, barge engineers and subsea engineers.

Prerequisites

Prior certification is not required but previous direct or indirect involvement in drilling operations is assumed. Please get in touch with us to discuss candidate suitability if you have any doubts or queries.

Examination

Successful completion of the course and a pass mark of 75% or above in the assessment will result in IADC WellSharp Introductory Level certification which is valid for five years.

Course Contents

The course is delivered through presentation of a series of interactive lectures supported by videos and animations, supplemented by a classroom workbook and further self-study exercises. Where available, candidates are also introduced to drilling simulation using one of our simulators, allowing candidates to put the well control theory into practice.
