Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Sea (Initial)
Objective
To ensure that personnel responsible for shipping dangerous goods can:
• Understand and apply the IMDG Dangerous Goods Regulations
• Understand their responsibilities
• Classify dangerous goods according to the type of hazard and degree of danger
• Identify Proper Shipping Names
• Identify dangerous goods which are forbidden for sea transport
• Understand and apply the information contained in the Dangerous Goods List
• Correctly pack dangerous goods in the appropriate packagings
• Mark and label packages
• Placard Containers
• Document shipments
• Accept or reject a shipment based on the above
• Appropriately handle and stow dangerous goods
Target Group
Shippers, packers, freight forwarders / cargo agents processing dangerous goods, acceptance staff and other shore-based personnel responsible for dangerous goods shipments.

None
Examination
At the end of the course there is an IMDG examination with a pass mark of 80% with successful candidates being issued a certificate valid for 2 years.
