Helideck Operations Initial Training Standard (HLO and HDA Initial Training)
Objective
The aim and objectives of the Helideck Operations Initial Training Programme are to equip the delegates with the initial knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform the roles of Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) safely and effectively.
Target Group
The target group for Offshore Helideck Operations Initial Training programme is personnel who are to be appointed to the role of an Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and/or Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA).
Prerequisites
As a minimum, delegates must complete a Dangerous Goods Awareness training course which is approved by IATA. HCA, CAA or a state aviation authority.
Examination
Delegates will be assessed against the learning outcomes specified in section A.5 using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate
Successful candidates will be awarded an OPITO approved Helideck Operations Initial Training certificate which has no expiry date
Delegates should report to reception for 08.00hrs, course starts at 08.15hrs, unless otherwise stated.
