Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (OPITO 5700/NOGEPA 0.5A/OLF) + Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) Training (OPITO 5902/NOGEPA 0.5C)

Objective

The OPITO-approved BOSIET is designated for people travelling to and working on an offshore installation. The training is worldwide accepted and offers a wide range of relevant knowledge and competences.
During the BOSIET programme delegates will gain a basic level of understanding and an awareness of safety and emergency response on offshore installations.
Also included in this course is in accordance to Norwegian O&G requirements the escape chute (skyscape techniques)and in occordance to NOGEPA requirements the S-Cape (personal descending device).

To ensure that delegates gain the required knowledge and understanding of the particular hazards and properties of a CA-EBS and appropriate practical emergency response actions to take should the requirement for emergency deployment arise.

Target Group

This programme with an OPITO+NOGEPA approval and Norwegian Oil&Gas acceptance is designed to assist in meeting the initial onshore safety and emergency response training and assessment requirements for personnel new to the offshore oil and gas industry.
Compressed Air Breathing System (CA-EBS) whilst travelling to work by helicopter and may be required to use a CA-EBS in the event of an emergency.

Prerequisites

There are no training prerequisites required for the BOSIET and CA EBS. At the start of the training the delegate should be:
- In possession of a valid ID (passport or drivers licence)
- In possession of a valid Oil & Gas UK / NOGEPA offshore medical certificate.
- In possession of a Personal Safety Logbook, when applicable.
- Physically fit to attend the course.

Note: CA EBS Training is a classroom training in accordance to the mutual recognition agreement between Oil&Gas UK (OPITO) and NOGEPA.

Examination

Delegates will be judged against the learning outcomes specified in OPITO/NOGEPA Approved Standard BOSIET and CA EBS.
On successful completion of the course the delegates will receive the OPITO, NOGEPA and OLF certificate.

To successfully complete the CA EBS training delegates must be able to explain:
- The fundamental differences between re-breather and compressed air systems (technology and use)
- The rationale and use of CA-EBS in helicopter emergency situations.
- The hazards associated with CA-EBS
To successfully this training delegates need to demonstrate:
- A pre-flight inspection of the life jacket and CA-EBS
- Donning the life jacket with CA-EBS correctly, including 'buddy check'
- An emergency deployment of the CA-EBS in a dry environment
