STCW - Personal Survival Techniques

Objective

To give the delegate the theoretic and practical skills needed to ensure the correct use of the available life saving appliances. Thus enabling the delegate to survive a given emergency at sea in the case of abandonment.

Target Group

Personnel in the need of a sea survival course according to STCW A-VI/1-1 excluding first aid, fire fighting and personal responsibilities The course is typically used by personnel from the maritime sector who needs to be a part of the safe manning crew.

Examination

None, but all course must be completed whit satisfaction for handing out certificate.

Course Contents

Theory: - Emergency situations at sea - Evacuation - Personal life saving appliances - Collective life saving appliances - Distress signals - Survival techniques in water - Search and rescue Practical exercises: - Personal life saving appliances - Conventional liferaft - Survival in water - Evacuation by means of evacuation ladder and helicopter rescue - Evacuation exercise
